Job Description

Job title: Head Chef

Hours: 32/Week
Wage: $36.60 per hour

Job Duties:
• Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales and inventory
• Demonstrate new cooking techniques and new equipment to cooking staff
• Create new recipes
• Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food
• Prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events such as banquets
• Supervise cooks and other kitchen staff
• Prepare and cook meals or specialty foods
• Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards
• Recruit and hire staff
• Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food

Qualifications:
• Language of Work: English; Chinese is considered an asset.
• Education: Completion of secondary (high) school education
• Cuisine specialties: Experience in Chinese cuisine is required; experience in Xi’an-style cuisine is preferred.
• Experience: 5 years or more of relevant work experience as a cook is required
