Job Description:

WPE Landscape Equipment is a premier retail, service, and rental dealer of agricultural, landscape, construction, and contractor equipment serving the Golden Horseshoe from two locations in Hamilton and Mississauga, Ontario. We require a full-time agricultural equipment technician to repair, service, and maintain agricultural equipment and other contractor equipment.

Main responsibilities will include:

• Inspect agricultural equipment and other heavy equipment for faults and malfunctions;
• Perform routine maintenance on agricultural and other heavy equipment;
• Inspect, service, repair and maintain such agricultural attachments as related to our customers needs, including blades, plows, booms, seeding, fertilizing and harvesting machinery;
• Repair and replace broken and defective parts on agricultural and other heavy machinery;
• Maintain and adjust machinery to ensure correct performance;
• Prepare cost estimates and documentation;
• Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions on agricultural and other heavy equipment using computerized and other testing equipment;
• Supervise apprentices or other workers.

Skills and Experience:

Required:

• 5 to 10 years of experience as an agricultural equipment technician
• Successful completion of a post secondary degree, diploma, or certificate course of at least one year in duration

Desired:

• A second language, French or Spanish, is helpful.
• Welding experience
• Parts look up on web based programs

Knowledge and Competency Requirements:

• Knowledge of Diesel, hydraulic and electrical schematics
• Experience with large grading blades and hydraulic/electric controls
• Experience with setting speed and application controls for spreaders
• Experience with hydraulic hose crimping tool
• Assembly of new equipment and proper PDI.
Working Conditions:
• Exposure to gasoline or diesel, chemicals, solvents, solder, and other products;
• Exposure to noise, vibration, rotating parts, hot surfaces, exhaust, electrical components, etc.;
• Potentially working in confined spaces, at heights, outdoors, or in awkward positions.

Required languages: English

Education level: Successful completion of a post secondary degree, diploma, or certificate course of at least one year in duration
