In addition to case management, career counselling and employment maintenance, They specialize in job development, mentoring, creative job carving and career exploration. TEAM Work is client-centered. This means all work emerges from a place of passion, commitment and care that keeps clients’ best interests at the forefront. In the past year, TEAM Work helped 430 Nova Scotians in need of finding employment.
TEAM Work facilitates numerous programs supporting both job seekers and employers. These include MentorAbility, the GO3D Self-Employment Program, Career Link, the Workplace Support Program, the Opportunities Fund, EquitAbility and more.

This Moment, This Position
The MentorAbility Nova Scotia Coordinator is responsible for supporting the activities of the MentorAbility Canada project in accordance with its policies and practice parameters.
MentorAbility is a national project delivered by TEAM Work Cooperative on behalf of the Canadian Association for Supported Employment (CASE) and is funded in part by the Government of Canada’s Opportunities Fund for the Persons with Disabilities Program.
MentorAbility is a supported employment initiative that facilitates unique, short-term mentoring opportunities between employers and people with disabilities. By providing and celebrating successful mentoring experiences in communities across Canada, this initiative is part of a national effort to promote the employment of Canadians with disabilities.
You will be responsible for:
Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Coordinator will be expected to:
Support the goals and objectives of the MentorAbility Canada Project and the MentorAbility Nova Scotia project.
Support Disability Employment Awareness Month events and workshops/training sessions.
Support the training and recruitment goals and objectives of the MentorAbility Canada Project provincially.
Actively recruit mentees (employers), mentors, and community partners to facilitate matches necessary to meet MentorAbility objectives.
Working with partners to ensure they understand processes for delivering mentorships and how to access MentorAbility Canada’s events and activities fund.
Develop relationships, communicate consistently, and sustain collaborative efforts with project stakeholders, including national partners, provincial partners, and local community partners.
Support the mapping of business networks and develop an engagement process with those networks in ten local communities.
Deliver presentations for business groups to promote the employment of people with an intellectual disability in different communities.
Maintain ongoing relationships with employers and partner employment agencies within both projects.
Manage day-to-day operations and activities for both projects.
Team engagement and reporting.
Attend bi-weekly national MentorAbility meetings.
Attend bi-monthly TEAM Work Cooperative all-staff meetings.
Develop, manage and report continually on detailed activity,
performance, and outcomes.
Coordinate training data collection, analysis, and reporting among sites in the province.
Communicate regularly with sites.
Participate and provide input into the MentorAbility evaluation.
Meet all reporting and documentation requirements of both
MentorAbility and the TEAM Work Cooperative including but not limited to the completion of quarterly reporting and maintenance of stakeholder management database.
Other duties as required and/or assigned.
Your Story

Commitment to full community inclusion of people experiencing a disability.
Follow the Canadian Association of Supported Employment’s Nine Guiding Principles.
Demonstrate knowledge of labour market issues and barriers faced by people experiencing a disability.
Experience in building relationships with diverse groups and interests.
Minimum of 3 years of project management experience, including non-profit sector projects.
Strong interpersonal communication, public speaking, presentation, writing, and media relations abilities.
Highly organized and fluent in MS Office and online communication platforms.
Able to travel locally and nationally for meetings and events.
Experience working with budgets and agreements.
Previous experience in a mentoring program and working with people
with disabilities would be considered an asset.
Experience and proven ability as a training coordinator, trainer, or similar role.
Knowledge of instructional design, program development, and workshop skills.
Several years’s experience in working with persons with disabilities
Proven leadership and management skills.
Experience working with diverse groups and an understanding of the concept of intersectionality.
The Package
Salary: $56,550 – $62,400 annually
Location: 7051 Bayers Rd, Suite 501, Halifax NS B3L 2C1
Travel: Provincial and National travel will be required
