Qualifications:
– Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English is required
– Completion of secondary (high) school is required
– 3 years to less than 5 years of work experience as a cook or a chef in a restaurant is required
Job duties:
– Prepare and cook food on a regular basis;
– Prepare, cook and present Japanese dishes on the menu;
– Prepare, make and present Sashimi and Sushi dishes;
– Prepare, cook and present Japanese grill dishes using Robata (Japanese traditional charcoal grill);
– Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances if requested;
– Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales and inventory;
– Requisition food and kitchen supplies;
– Estimate food requirements and food and labour costs;
– Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food;
– Instruct and train staff in preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation of food, as well as handling of food;
– Plan and create new menus, and ensure that the quality of the dishes always meets the quality standards of Nami Japanese Seafood Restaurant;
– Supervise cooks and other kitchen staff.
