Job Description

Full-time Nanny:
We are seeking a full-time nanny in Vancouver, B.C. to provide childcare, in our home, for our toddler-aged son during our working hours. The successful candidate will be expected to care for our son’s development, and physical and social well-being and assist with light household duties.

The successful candidate must have a calm and caring demeanor, and be respectful of our preferences and desires for our home and parenting styles. They should be a proactive self-starter, continually identifying areas to assist our family with minimal direction and oversight. The successful candidate will be resourceful, possess good communication skills, and be able to represent our family in a professional and kind manner in all interactions. The candidate will be reliable and must be a team player, capable of interacting well with others who come and go from the house.

Desired Start Date: Mid-August, 2024
(Our son will be approx. 15 months old at desired start date.)

Primary responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
• Assume full responsibility for household in absence of parents
• Supervise and care for our son
• Sterilize bottles, prepare formulas and change diapers for our son
• Bathe, dress and feed infants and our son
• Instruct our son in personal hygiene and social development
• Tend to emotional well-being of our son
• Discipline our son according to the methods requested by the parents
• Organize, activities such as games and outings for our son
• Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home
• Prepare our son for rest periods
• Take our son to and from school and to appointments
• Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties
• Wash, iron and press clothing and household linens
• Assist with family travel preparations including packing our son’s bags for weekend and other trips as requested by us.

Additional duties may include:
• Keep records of daily activities and health information regarding our son
• Occasionally providing childcare outside of regular hours on an as agreed basis.
• Travel with family on trips and assist with child supervision and housekeeping duties
• Shop for food and household supplies
• Other miscellaneous tasks as agreed from time to time

Anticipated hours are approximately 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (excluding holidays); however, scheduled hours may vary depending on our working hours.

Minimum Requirements
• Duly qualified to work in Canada.
• Minimum two to three years of early childcare experience.
• English speaking with strong communication skills.
• Valid BC driver’s licence (or equivalent) is an asset.
• Will have their own living arrangements. This is not a live-in position.

Priority will be given to candidates with formal early childcare education and first aid training/experience.
