Improving Lives Respite Services – Group Home Support Worker

Improving Lives Respite Services is actively looking to hire Two (2) – Group Home Support Worker for a permanent, full-time position to work at our Beeton House Group Home located at 5968 7th Line, Beeton, ON, L0G 1A0.

Improving Lives Respite Services seeks year-round full time support workers for day shifts (12 hours on a 4 day/3 day rotating two-week schedule) to provide support to adults with autism, dual diagnosis or other developmental disabilities in our Beeton House Group Home near Alliston in South Simcoe. We are also hiring part time staff.

All full-time staff qualify for 100% paid company dental, drug, extended health and insurance benefits, employee assistance program, sick pay, progressive vacation pay, and ten days statutory/non-statutory holiday pay premiums in a fast paced but fun environment. All workers are covered with WSIB and liability insurance, and we provide complimentary training in Safe Management to all staff. Day staff also are entitled to free meals while on shift prepared by our full-time chef on staff. Please note our pay scales include provincial enhanced pay.

The Group Home Support Worker shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following job tasks:

Job Duties:

• Establish and maintain current, accurate, confidential files for each client
• Personal support of residents
• Engage clients during weekly in-house therapies
• Assist clients in community participation support and outings
• Implement behavioral management programs and resolve conflict situations using behavior support and safety plans.
• Maintain contact with all family, health care providers, social service agencies and other resources involved with clients.
• Provide crisis intervention

Skills, Experience and Education Required:

• Completion of Secondary School Education or Equivalent is required.
• Completed a diploma or degree in a related discipline (DSW or equivalent degree or diploma) from a recognized post-secondary educational institution is required.
• 1 Year experience in Supportive Residential Care or similar work experience.
• Experience working with people with developmental disabilities (not the elderly) is an asset.
• Clean Vulnerable Sector Police Check
• Credentials Requirement: First Aid and CPR Certificate (minimum “C” level), Safe Management or Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certificate is an asset.
• Other certifications like WHMIS, Health and Safety, etc. are an asset.
• Valid Driver’s License with clean abstract
• Ability to work with a team of 4-5 other people

Wage and Hours: $26.44 per hour, 36 – 48 hours per week, overtime pay after 44 hours per week. 12 hours per day (12 hours on a 4 day/3 day rotating two-week schedule), Morning, Day, Evening shift – Flexibility Required. Monday to Friday, Overtime & Weekends as needed
