Qualifications:
– Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English is required;
– Completion of secondary (high) school is required;
– 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in commercial food preparation is required;
– Experience of working in a Japanese restaurant and/or knowledge on Japanese cuisine is an asset.

Job duties:
– Prepare, make and present Nigiri Sushi, Aburi Oshi Sushi (torched and pressed Sushi), Sashimi dishes, and Sushi Rolls;
– Prepare, cook, and present appetizers and dishes on the menu on a regular basis;
– Prepare, cook and present Modern Kyo Kaiseki (feature course menu);
– Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances upon request;
– Supervise other kitchen staff;
– Create new recipes, and plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards of Aburi Hana;
– Maintain records of food costs, consumption and inventory;
– Requisition food and kitchen supplies if necessary;
– Estimate food requirements and food and labour costs;
– Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs if necessary;
– Train and instruct staff in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food.
